School crossing guards
Adult School Crossing Guards provide safe crossings for school children at designated crosswalks within the City of Williamston. Performs Crossing Guard duties, as follows:
- Observes traffic flow and control devices at busy City street intersections, by looking and listening and using good judgment while escorting school age children across; by walking and giving verbal directions; holding traffic control sign above shoulder height so that is visible to oncoming vehicle drivers.
- Duties are performed in outside locations with an uncontrolled environment.
- Ability to pass a thorough police criminal history background check.
Qualifications
Work Schedule: One hour in the morning and one hour in the afternoon, Monday – Friday when school is in session. Must be available before school starting time and when school lets out in the afternoon.
Special Requirements
To perform the essential functions of the job, an individual may be required to maintain a physical condition necessary for walking and standing for prolonged periods at a time; reaching, adequate use of speech, hearing and vision, including depth perception, peripheral vision, and color, near and far vision, in all types of weather conditions and temperature changes.
